Procurement Industry Roundtable

April has been a busy month! I recently attended a meeting entitled 'Procurement Industry Roundtable' which was hosted by the RIBA and allowed us to review their paper 'Building Ladders of Opportunity - How Reforming Construction Procurement Can Drive Growth in the UK Economy'. Alongside myself and Francesca Berriman, Chief Executive, as representatives of CIAT, there were figure heads from RIBA, CIBSE, ICE, CIC, RICS and the Secretary of the Architects Council, Europe.

BIM Conference

At the invitation of the organisers, I enjoyed a very informative day at the BIM Conference 2012 held at the University of Warwick on 17 April.

There were plenty of interesting speakers including Paul Fletcher who actually spoke almost a decade ago at a CIAT conference held at the British Museum.

The agenda for the day can be seen here: http://bimconference.co.uk/agenda.php

Hopefully some papers from the day will be published as they make excellent reading for CPD!

Delivering an Architectural Technology masterclass

Last week I had the great privilege of giving a masterclass in Architectural Technology to students at the University of Ulster. The masterclass was on 'The Changing Face of Architectural Technology'.

A day at the National Homebuilding and Renovating Show

I had a very enjoyable day meeting members, prospective members and the general public at the National Homebuilding and Renovating Show held at the NEC over the past four days.

I was additionally pleased to meet our Chartered Member (Andrew Dukesell MCIAT) in The Advice Centre who was giving 30 minutes free advice to visitors to the show on their proposed projects.

It was interesting to see the public's reactions, at first hand, to discovering about what a Chartered Architectural Technologist is and how they can assist them in their project. There are some great projects happening across the country and both Chartered Architectural Technologists and architects will be working together to deliver them.

Meeting ARB

I had a very successful meeting with Beatrice Fraenkel, Chair and Alison Carr, Registrar and Chief Executive from Architects' Registration Board along with Francesca Berriman, Chief Executive of CIAT.

Our relationship grows from strength to strength.
